ExcEED publishes a new infographic on its demo case Casa Hoval
The KPIs, the database, and the tools developed within the project ExcEED needed to be tested and validated before collecting data and performing analysis from several buildings.
To do so, the project used a demonstration case: the Hoval Italia head quarter building, Casa Hoval. This building perfectly serves the scope being a nZEB (93% of the energy consumed is covered with renewable energy production) and it is designed as a living laboratory.
Casa Hoval is located in Zanica, in the North of Italy and it was built in 2014. The building is divided in two blocks: an office block facing north and a storehouse block facing south. The linear north façade embeds a distinctive red cubic element, where a training room is placed . This room is quite peculiar since it is built as a climatic area in which trainees can experience different thermal conditions.
Casa Hoval is equipped with a supervision system (Desigo Building Automation- Siemens) to integrate all the thermoregulation functions and facilitate the approach to control and manage the entire plant, through a simple Personal Computer. Originally, the building monitoring system (BMS) did not cover all the parameters needed to calculate several of the KPIs defined within the project and for this reason, the BMS has been improved adding new indoor and outdoor sensors and energy meters.
According to that, the infographic shows the different systems of the building: heating and cooling, distribution and mechanical ventilation and monitoring.
